Terrific Tessellations

When students in Room 2 finish their work early they work on a task we call the 'Stellar Superstars Challenge'. The challenge last week was to learn about M.C. Escher's Tessellations. Then they had to create their own. Here are some of the digital tessellations students created.

Ihaka (left) and JJ (right) worked together to create these tessellations with fish designs

Tayla (left) and Shriya (right) worked together to create these rainbow tessellations using arrows.

Sirat (left) tried making a few different designs. And Harry (right) made this large tessellation, can you figure out what shape he used?

Room Rua's Posters

For our te reo lesson this week, students learnt their numbers. One activity was to create a poster of the numbers 1-10. Students got so creative and produced great posters! What do you think?

Tongan Culture

As part of our Identity Topic we started learning about Tongan Culture in Weeks 3 and 4. Here are some of the results from those weeks.

Students completed Learn Create Share Activities (see Google Slide Below). They read books or watched videos, then answered a question. Have a look at a small selection of student's answers.

Our class worked really hard to create a Ngatu, using the instructions below. Our back wall looks great now!

What makes us, us?

Our new topic this term is Identity. So to start we discussed what Identity is, and what things add to our identity - what things make us unique?

Some of the things we discussed were our name, how we look, our ethnicity, our family and friends, our favourite games, sports, foods, movies or TV shows, what we do in a day, what subjects we are good at and skills or talents we have.

We then made some portraits which turned out amazing. Now we have posters that are hung in our class that can tell visitors all about us and our identity. Have a look at some of them below.

ANZAC Activities

During the last week of term one, students learnt lots about the ANZACs. Then student picked from a wide range of activities, and used their new knowledge to complete the tasks. These were the students options.

Most students choose to create a wreath as one of their options, so here are a selection of the different wreaths that were created digitally.

Taking Care of our Chromebooks

We have been focusing on taking care of our Chromebooks the past couple weeks. A big thanks to Kootuitui ki Papapkura for helping with this. On Friday students created posters to inform others on how to properly look after their Chromebooks. The year 4s in Room 2 have posted their posters to their personal blogs (along with other tasks they have been working on this week). Here are a sample of the posters our year 3s made.
